Fighting like a man plays right into the hands of attackers. Strategies like stun and run and keep hitting until he is down places you within your attackers range. It gives him the opportunity to strike back and his hit will be more violent than yours.
These statistics say it all:
- 83% of rape victims are between the ages of 12 and 25 years old.
- 90% of women assaulted knew their assailant.
- 25% of college women are victims of rape or attempted rape.
- 19% experienced attempted or completed
sexual assault since entering college as reported
in a study of undergraduate women.
According to the U.S. Dept of Justice, “1 in 4 women will be attacked or raped in her lifetime.”
We want you to be in charge!
This is why we teach skills that prepare you for inappropriate or aggressive behavior. Our 2.0 hour class is specific for women 17 and older. During this time we teach you the six basic self-defense principles with hands on training. The idea is to make you a “hard target.” We also show how to use the four “A’s” of self-protection: Attitude, Awareness, Assessment and Action.
In addition, we cover:
- How and why women are attacked
- Vulnerable areas of a woman’s lifestyle
- What assailants look for in their victims
- How to stay aware and set appropriate boundaries – the crucial keys to safety
- The importance of reacting quickly and being LOUD
- Where and how to strike – primary areas on an attackers body to focus on
- How to deal with sexual harassment
- Frontal attacks, attacks from behind and ground defense
